A 14th-century estate on a quiet Chianti hill near Florence, wrapped in olive groves, cypresses and wide country views.

La Specola has watched over this hill for centuries. Its story is tied to Marsilio Ficino, the Florentine humanist who translated Plato for the Medici and gave the Renaissance much of its philosophy.
Ficino (1433–1499) translated into Latin the complete works of Plato, until then almost unknown in the West, and led the Platonic Academy founded under Medici patronage: much of what we call Renaissance thought flows from that work.
Villa La Torre, also known as La Specola, remains the historic heart of the property, surrounded by fruit trees and stone houses that shape the park. Around them, twenty-seven hectares of olive groves and cypresses run down towards the valley.

“A place where time slows down, and the Tuscan light does the rest.”
