Cookie policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on the Podere La Specola website, and how you can manage your consent. It complements our privacy notice.
In short
This site uses no profiling cookies and no advertising tools. It uses three Google services: the map and the availability calendar and, to count visits, Google Analytics. All of them stay blocked until you give your consent, which you give or refuse separately for the two purposes: map and calendar on one side, statistics on the other.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on a visitor’s device, used to remember information between pages or between visits. Similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage, serve the same purpose and are treated here in the same way.
Technical cookies, needed to make a site work or to remember a choice you have made, do not require consent. Third-party cookies set by external services, and analytics cookies from services such as Google Analytics, do require your prior consent.
What this site stores on your device
Two items, technical in nature, whose sole purpose is to remember the choices you made on the banner so that you are not asked again on every page:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
pls-consenso-terze-parti |
Local storage (not a cookie; never sent to the server) | Records whether you accepted or declined the Google map and calendar | Until you clear your browser data |
pls-consenso-statistiche |
Local storage (not a cookie; never sent to the server) | Records whether you accepted or declined Google Analytics statistics | Until you clear your browser data |
No other cookies, advertising identifiers or device fingerprints are stored, with one exception: if you accept statistics, you receive the two Google Analytics cookies described below.
Visit statistics
Visits are measured in aggregate, anonymous form from the server logs using Netlify Analytics: this happens on the server side, uses no cookies and creates no identifiers for individual visitors. For this reason it requires no consent.
On the Weddings page the site also measures how far down the page is read. When the page opens, when a section comes into view for the first time, when you follow a link to a specific part of the page and when you leave it, the page asks this same site for a tiny image (/assets/scorrimento.gif). The address of the request contains only the name of the page and of the section or link concerned, the seconds since the page was opened and, for visits arriving from an Instagram or Facebook link, a note saying so (or that it is one of our own test visits). This measurement sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and assigns no identifier. Like every request to the site, it reaches the hosting provider together with your IP address and browser type and ends up in its logs: we use them only to count, in aggregate, how far visits get, never to identify or follow a person. For this reason this measurement requires no consent either.
The hosting provider also adds a small performance-monitoring script to every page, served from this site’s own domain. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device; its outbound data transmission is blocked by the site’s security policy, so in practice no information leaves your browser.
Google Analytics (only with consent to statistics)
If you accept statistics, this site uses Google Analytics 4, the web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), which processes the data on behalf of Podere La Specola as a data processor. It tells us, in aggregate, how many people visit the site, which countries they are in, which sites or search engines they come from, which pages they read and on which devices, so that we can improve the content and navigation.
- What is collected: pages viewed and time spent, referring site or search, country and approximate city, device type, operating system, browser and language, and some interactions with the pages (for example scrolling, clicks to other sites, file downloads).
- IP address: according to Google, Google Analytics 4 uses it only to derive the approximate location and does not log or store it; for visitors in Europe this happens on European servers.
- No advertising: Google Signals, ad personalisation and data sharing with Google for its own purposes are turned off; the data is not linked to visitors’ Google accounts.
- Retention: data tied to individual visitors and events is deleted after 2 months; only aggregate totals remain.
Google Analytics stores two cookies on your device, on this site’s domain but written by Google’s script:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga |
Tells visitors apart with a random code, so that each is counted once | 13 months from the last visit |
_ga_F2WRG12VLK |
Keeps the state of the current visit (session start and number of visits) | 13 months from the last visit |
The legal basis is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code): it is optional, declining does not limit your use of the site in any way, and you can withdraw it at any time (see below); when you do, both cookies are deleted. Google may also process the data outside the European Union, in particular in the United States: the transfer relies on the European Commission’s adequacy decision on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795 of 10 July 2023), in which Google LLC participates, and otherwise on the standard contractual clauses approved by the Commission.
Further information: data protection in Google Analytics, how Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Google privacy policy. Independently of this site, Google offers a browser add-on that turns off Google Analytics on every site.
Third-party services
Some pages display content provided by Google. When that content loads, it opens a connection to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and may set third-party cookies on the Google domain.
| Service | Domain | Where it appears | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Maps | www.google.com | Location and Contact pages | Showing where the estate is on an interactive map |
| Google Calendar | calendar.google.com | Contact page | Showing the availability calendar |
Any cookies set by these services belong to Google; their purpose, duration and management are described in Google’s information on cookies and in the Google privacy policy. Podere La Specola has no access to those cookies or to the data passing through them.
How consent is asked for
On your first visit a banner appears with two equally prominent buttons, Accept all and Decline all, and a Choose option to decide one purpose at a time. Until then, and if you decline, no Google service is loaded, not even Google Analytics: in place of the map and calendar you see a panel explaining the situation, with a button to load them anyway should you wish to.
- Accept all: the map and calendar load, Google Analytics counts the visit, and Google may set its own cookies.
- Decline all, or the X that closes the banner: no third-party server is contacted. The site remains fully usable: the address and contact details are written out in plain text on the pages anyway.
- Choose: shows one box per purpose, Map and calendar and Statistics, unticked (unless you already chose before). Only what you tick is turned on when you press Save choices.
Your choices are not final and can be changed at any time.
Withdrawing or changing your consent
The button below clears the saved choices, deletes this site’s Google Analytics cookies and brings the banner back:
You can also clear cookies and site data from your browser settings at any time, or block third-party cookies at browser level: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
